Kazakh apples take 19th place in terms of value in world

By November 13, 2023, Kazakhstan ranked 19th among 98 countries in terms of apple availability, where the price per kilogram was $1.22, the highest among the CIS countries participating in the ranking. Ukraine is in the lead with a price of $0.69 per kilogram, followed by North Macedonia and Poland, and the most expensive apples are in South Korea, Puerto Rico and the United States. Among the CIS, the ranking also includes Belarus, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Russia and Uzbekistan, El.kz reports.

In October 2023, the cost of apples in Kazakhstan decreased by 2.1% per month, but increased by 16.5% year-on-year. In monthly dynamics, the rise in price was observed in 7 out of 20 regions, with the largest increase in Shymkent (8.6%). In annual terms, prices increased in 16 regions, with the largest growth in Shymkent (48.6%), Zhetysu (43.4%) and Zhambyl (37.7%) regions.

The average price in stores and markets in large cities was 601 tenge per kg, with the highest price in Ust-Kamenogorsk, Aktau and Astana, and the lowest in Turkestan, Shymkent and Uralsk.

In 2022, the gross harvest of apples reached 267.9 thousand tons, 2% more than in the previous year. The largest harvest was in Turkestan, Almaty and Zhetysu regions.

On November 7, Justice Minister Azamat Yeskarayev announced the patenting of the Almaty Aport brand, and its international consolidation.
