Kazakh animator creates an animated film about bride kidnapping

A Kazakh animator has released a short animated film addressing  the “alyp qashu” tradition, El.kz reports.

According to the creator, the film has not attracted much attention from audiences despite the relevance of the topic.

 “It seems that if this were a Japanese or Chinese story, it would have received more views. But when it comes to Kazakh stories, it has a  little interest. Is the topic too uncomfortable, or is the animation simply not good enough?”

Many users expressed support for the animator in the comments under the post. Viewers noted that the animation was visually beautiful and atmospheric, while the subject matter was important and deserving of discussion. Some commented that art and short stories can help draw attention to issues that society often prefers not to talk about.
