President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chairman of the Supreme Court Aslambek Mergaliyev, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Aslambek Mergaliev informed the Head of State about the current activities of the judicial system. He reported on the implementation of the President's order to hold consultations on the creation of an independent cassation instance. As a result of the discussion, together with the legal, scientific, business community and deputies of the chambers of the Parliament, the model involving the establishment of three cassation courts in the capital - for criminal, civil and administrative cases - was positively assessed.
The Chairman of the Supreme Court also said that the Supreme Court proposes to abolish the institution of preliminary review, to apply "continuous cassation", to establish a "reasonable period" of consideration not exceeding 6 months, as well as to conduct a trial with the mandatory participation of the parties. In turn, the highest judicial body will focus on oversight and ensuring the uniformity of judicial practice.
Aslambek Mergaliev presented information on the work of administrative justice and the development of international cooperation. The Chairman of the Supreme Court spoke about digitalization and the introduction of elements of artificial intelligence in order to increase the transparency of court activities and access to justice.
The Head of State paid special attention to the quality of the ongoing reforms of the judicial system and ensuring the rule of law in the consideration of cases in all instances.
