Shezhire in AI era: Maksat Zhabagin on preserving national digital heritageThe 2023 World Chess Championship in the senior age category will be held from October 24 to November 6 in Terrasini (Italy), El.kz reports with reference to kazchess.kz.
The organizers were the International Chess Federation (FIDE) and the Italian Chess Federation, together with UniChess and Accademia Scacchistica Monrealese.
Players who are at least 50 and 65 years old or older (as of December 31 of the year the tournament starts) are allowed to participate. According to the rules of FIDE tournaments, the Championship will be held in four categories: aged 50+ and 65+ (Open Championship and Women's Championship).
To ensure the appropriate conditions for the tournament, players must carefully fill out the official registration form and submit it to the organizers by September 15, 2023. After this deadline, registration may be refused or, according to FIDE regulations, an additional fee of 80 euros may be requested.
