The IAEA held a seminar to choose a site for the construction of a nuclear power plant, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
A seminar was held in Astana to choose a site for the construction of nuclear power plants and review the new program of nuclear installations in Kazakhstan "SEED Capacity Building for Site Safety Evaluation and Review for New Nuclear Installation Programmes in Kazakhstan" with the participation of IAEA experts.
The aim of the seminar is to provide technical training with practical exercises, which focuses on the complex aspects of the safety of the nuclear power plant construction site in accordance with the IAEA safety standards.
The seminar covered a wide range of topics, including general aspects of the IAEA series of safety standards and technical aspects of the selection of a nuclear power plant construction site, such as seismic, geotechnical, meteorological, hydrological and others. It should be noted that these aspects are important in emergency planning and radiological environmental impact assessment.
