From September 8 to 13, Astana will host international sports competitions in ethnic sports - the 5th World Nomad Games, El.kz reports. More than two thousand participants from 89 countries will take part in the event.
According to the capital's akimat, the games include three areas: sports, culture and science. Six metropolitan facilities are involved in the competition: the Astana Arena Stadium, the Kazanat racetrack , the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov, the Alau Ice Palace, the Qazaqstan Athletics Sports Complex and the Duman complex.
At the Kazanat racetrack and on the territory of the Ethnovillage, competitions in horse racing, traditional archery and national types of bird hunting, as well as horseback riding competitions will be held. Competitions in national wrestling and martial arts, as well as folk games, will be held in the Martial Arts Palace named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov and in the Alau Ice Palace. Traditional intellectual games will be held in the Duman complex. The Qazaqstan Athletics Sports Complex will host the Accreditation and Equipment Centers of the World Nomad Games.
The scientific program of the Games will be held at the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main venue for the cultural program will be the Ethno-village "Universe of Nomads", located on the territory of 10 hectares next to the Kazanat racetrack. Cultural program events will also be held at various venues in Astana, including squares, parks, theaters, concert halls, cinemas, museums and exhibition pavilions.
