Higher School of Artificial Intelligence opened in Kazakhstan

Today, the official opening ceremony of the Higher School of Artificial Intelligence and Informatics was held at the Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The event was attended by the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek, Akim of the Kyzylorda region Nurlybek Nalibayev, representatives of the Leading University Project for International Cooperation LUPIC, faculty and employers in the field of IT.

The initiative was implemented as part of the instruction of the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to open centers for training personnel in the field of artificial intelligence and conduct research in this area on the basis of three universities.

The higher school will specialize in training personnel in the field of artificial intelligence, cybersecurity and informatics. Students will be trained according to programs developed jointly with SeoulTech, which will provide access to global IT technologies. As part of the project, the university will be equipped with modern laboratory equipment from Korea, and students will be multilingual - they will study in English and Korean, fluent in Russian and Kazakh, the press service said.

At the event, the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek noted the importance of the project.

- President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev notes the development of artificial intelligence technologies as a strategically important area for the future of the country. The use of artificial intelligence technologies requires special attention. Therefore, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education immediately began to implement educational programs in this area. The opening of the SeoulTech Higher School of Artificial Intelligence at Korkyt-ata University will serve as an effective impetus for the formation of human capital in the field of IT technologies, mutual exchange of experience and scientific developments, as well as for the further promotion of bilateral cooperation between Korea and Kazakhstan in the field of higher education. I also want to inform you that in the short term, it is planned to open a branch and a double-degree program, as a result of which graduates will be able to receive a diploma from SeoulTech and Korkyt Ata Kyzylorda University," the minister said.

Jasu Kim, Professor of the Department of Computer Science and Engineering, Director of the Kazakhstan Center for the LUPIC Project, Director of the Global Center for Quantum Artificial Intelligence Security in SeoulTech, noted that the project involves not only the opening of a higher school, but also the creation of a business incubator on the basis of Korkyt Ata University.

"I am sure that within the framework of the business incubator, Kazakh students will be able to develop their talents, create startups and use the knowledge gained to promote AI around the world," Jesu Kim shared.
