The world champion in the versions of WBA Super, IBF and IBO in the middleweight of Kazakhstan Gennady Golovkin received a new opponent, El.kz reports with reference to Vesti.kz.
The World Boxing Organization (WBA) picked up his opponent Erislandi Lara, who owns the belt of an ordinary WBA champion.
GGG is due to enter the ring within 120 days of a third fight against Mexican Saul Canelo Alvarez.
According to ESPN insider Mike Coppinger, Golovkin will have five days to decide which WBA title he will retain if he beats Alvarez on September 17.
"If GGG decides to stay at middleweight or lose to Canelo, he will have to defend his super championship middleweight title against Erislandy Lara within 120 days of the fight with Alvarez," Coppinger wrote.
