External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar will represent India at the annual summit of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) in Astana next week, El.kz reports with reference to TASS.
"The Indian delegation to the SCO summit will be headed by the External Affairs Minister," Jaiswal said.
Earlier, The Hindu newspaper, citing a source, reported that Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi would not be able to attend the SCO summit in Astana in early July due to the upcoming session of the Indian parliament. At this time, he will participate in a special parliamentary procedure "On expressing gratitude to the President", which will be held from July 2 to 4.
The SCO summit to be held on July 3 and 4 is expected to focus on the regional security situation and ways to boost connectivity and trade.
