On September 25, Kazakhstan launched a national contest to select the best name for the country’s first nuclear power plant, El.kz reports.

The initiative is organized by the Atomic Energy Agency. Voting and proposal submissions are available through the eGov Mobile app. A special banner, “Come up with a name for the NPP”, is displayed on the main page, and users have already received notifications about the contest.

The project’s goal is to find a name that reflects the historical, cultural, and national significance of the country’s first nuclear station.

Any citizen of Kazakhstan can take part by:

– choosing the language (Kazakh or Russian);

– submitting their own version of the name;

– optionally providing a brief explanation of its meaning;

– confirming they have read the official contest rules.

Submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. on October 10, 2025. The rules are available on the Atomic Energy Agency’s website and its social media platforms.

Organizers emphasize that this is an opportunity for every citizen to contribute to the future of Kazakhstan’s energy sector and leave their mark on history.
