The Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan, with the support of the project "European Union – Central Asia: Cooperation in the Field of Water, Environment and Climate Change" and the Delegation of the European Union to Kazakhstan, held a seminar on environmental quality standards, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ecology and Natural Resources of Kazakhstan.
The seminar was attended by representatives of the Ministries of Ecology and Natural Resources, Health, Industry and Infrastructure Development, Agriculture, international organizations and the public.
The aim of the seminar is to provide an overview of the European approach to setting environmental quality standards and to share the experience of the new Member States of the European Union in implementing these standards, focusing on institutional and capacity building issues.
During the seminar, the speakers announced the basic principles of environmental quality management in the EU, air quality standards and management, the transition to an air quality management system on the example of Latvia, as well as the basic principles of water quality management in the EU, the transition to the application of water quality management principles, again on the example of Latvia, European soil quality standards.
This experience will be studied in the development of environmental quality standards in accordance with the Environmental Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
