Shezhire in AI era: Maksat Zhabagin on preserving national digital heritageAn ermine has been captured on camera in the Kaindy Gorge, within Kolsai Lakes National Park. The video was published by the Committee for Forestry and Wildlife under the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The footage was recorded by Koishybayev, a state inspector with the Karabulak forestry service. The Committee described the animal as “small but remarkably agile.”
The Committee emphasised that even the smallest animals play an important role in the ecosystem. Ermine feed primarily on small rodents, helping maintain the natural balance of the ecosystem.
The Ministry also asked its social media followers whether they had ever encountered a stoat. Spotting one in the wild is no easy task: the animal is fast and tends to remain concealed.
