Shezhire in AI era: Maksat Zhabagin on preserving national digital heritageAs a result of a large-scale special operation conducted jointly by the National Security Committee and the Ministry of Internal Affairs, eight groups were eliminated, El.kz reports.
According to the press service of the National Security Committee of Kazakhstan, the detention operation was carried out on February 17 in various regions of the country, including Aktobe, Atyrau, East Kazakhstan, Zhambyl, West Kazakhstan, Turkestan, Zhetysu regions and the city of Shymkent.
During the special operation, 250 law enforcers were involved, who detained 23 suspects. Among the detainees are supporters of destructive religious movements. Currently, 17 people are in custody and another six are under an obligation to appear.
The detainees are suspected of committing grave and especially grave crimes, including propaganda of terrorism, kidnapping, extortion, illegal trafficking in drugs and firearms.
According to the press service of the committee, many of the illegal acts committed were justified by distorted religious canons.
