With the assistance of the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, in 2023, eight hydraulic structures were transferred to state ownership in the country. Of these, four ownerless dams were located in the Aktobe region, as well as one reservoir and three ponds were located in the East Kazakhstan region, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the ministry.

The total number of ownerless hydraulic structures in the country was 22. Five of them were destroyed and incapable of further use. For the remaining nine structures, procedures are currently underway to transfer them to communal ownership.

"Last year, an inventory of the country's hydraulic structures was carried out. After that, together with the akimats of the regions, comprehensive plans for their restoration were developed. The implementation of these plans will increase the performance of hydraulic structures," said Nurzhan Nurzhigitov, Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
