As a result of digitalization in the field of education, starting this year, diplomas in technical and vocational, as well as post-secondary education, will have a QR code, El.kz reports citing the press service of the Ministry of Education.
Representatives of the ministry announced the introduction of a new technology for automatic identification and data verification using QR codes. This innovation serves two important functions. Firstly, it protects diplomas from counterfeiting, and secondly, it allows employers to instantly verify the authenticity of diplomas.
Vice Minister of Education Aibat Ilyasov explained: "The QR code allows you to verify the authenticity of the diploma, as it contains a link to the state web resource, which displays data about the diploma holder, educational institution and document details that are stored in the state National Educational Database (NOBD).
According to the information, starting from July 6, 2023, diplomas in technical and vocational education issued since the beginning of this year will also be available in electronic format. This will be similar to electronic identity cards and driver's licenses, which can be obtained through the Digital Document Service on the e-government portal and the eGov Mobile application, as well as through the applications of second-tier banks with integration support.
Graduates will be able to access digital diplomas through the "eGov Mobile" application using a QR code or transfer information in digital format to organizations and individuals. This practice is already used in the issuance of higher education diplomas. This year, more than 140 thousand college graduates will receive diplomas with a QR code.
This innovation in the issuance of diplomas has caused positive feedback from both educational institutions and employers. The introduction of a QR code on diploma forms simplifies and speeds up the process of verifying the authenticity of documents and the reliability of information about graduates. Employers can now quickly and easily check candidates' qualifications and education information when applying for a job.
In addition, the digital format of diplomas provides convenience and accessibility for graduates. Through the "eGov Mobile" app, they can easily access and share their digital diplomas with the right organizations and individuals. This reduces the need to provide physical paper documents and simplifies the process of confirming the qualifications of graduates.
