The Kazakh film "Paralympian", shot with the support of the Ministry of Culture and Sports, received a high award at the film festival of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization in India (Mumbai), El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Askar Ilyasov, who played the main role in the film directed by Aldiyar Bayrakimov "Paralympian", received the award "Best Male Role".
In total, 57 films from 14 countries were presented at the festival. The national delegation was represented by Dimash Kudaibergen.
"By the way, this is not the first award that the film has - last year it received two grand prix at film festivals in Russia. The picture is based on real stories from the life of domestic Paralympians," the ministry said.
The film tells the story of the first champion of the Winter Paralympic Games in Kazakhstan, Alexander Kolyadin, who won in Pyeongchang in 2018.
"I'm happy. This is my first award. We worked, we put all our heart and soul into it. We had a mission: we wanted to talk about Paralympians. To show what willpower, efforts and aspirations are behind the victories of Paralympians. And I am glad that the picture came out thanks to state support," said prize-winner Askar Ilyasov.
The film festival also presented domestic films "Dawn of the Great Steppe", "Mukagali", "Mother, I Am Alive!", "Training of Ademoka" and "Hot Lake".
