The concert opened with executive producer Dimash Qudaibergen, who performed his new original song “Living for the Game,” written специально for the project and premiered in Almaty during the show’s recording.
The competition lineup began with Malaysian singer Jeryl Lee, who performed “请随意盛开” (“Bloom Freely”).
“After visiting Lake Kaindy, we saw what the trees look like underwater. They resemble flowers – so beautiful. Even beneath the surface, they continue to bloom. That reminded me of this song, which is about blooming freely and being yourself, no matter where you are,” she shared.
Giulia Falcone performed “Lettre à mes parents” (“A Letter to My Parents”), reflecting on being far from her family in Italy. During the Apple Festival, surrounded by the warmth and care of the older contestants, she felt a sense of family that made her miss her parents even more, as she is currently studying in France. That feeling inspired her song choice.
Chengyu drew parallels between himself and a new acquaintance in “热烈的少年” (“Passionate Youth”). While collecting folklore, he met a cheerful and hospitable guide whose sparkling eyes and deep dedication to his work left a strong impression on the musician.
Singer from Kyrgyzstan Nur Cholpon found inspiration at the Apple Festival, where participants познакомились with various musical instruments. Upon seeing the Chinese guzheng, she noticed its resemblance to the traditional Kazakh and Kyrgyz instrument zhetygen. Her desire to awaken the free spirit of nomads led her to choose “Köçmön Biyi” (“Dance of the Nomad”).
A contestant from Serbia shared that in Almaty he discovered that true friendship, like a great song, can transcend time and space and touch the heart. That’s why Princ chose to express this feeling through his own song “Turn on Silent,” telling a story of understanding, trust, and love.
Zhang Xinyu from China explained her choice of “字正腔圆” (“Pure Diction, Graceful Melody”):
“At the Almaty Apple Festival, I met several young international friends who have been studying Chinese for many years. Their sincerity and passion for Chinese culture deeply moved me. That’s when I thought of this song.”
The warm, rich voice of Nurzhas Sadirbayev enveloped the audience like a soft blanket on a cool autumn evening with his performance of “Je t’aime” (“I Love You”). Memories of visiting Lake Kaindy, where reflections of trees on the water created a romantic atmosphere, inspired this heartfelt piece.
La Danzhu from China felt in Kazakhstan how music can cross mountains and rivers, connecting hearts. She chose “乌兰巴托的夜” (“Night in Ulaanbaatar”) and explained:
“May this song help us hear echoes in the wind and see longing in the clouds. ‘Night in Ulaanbaatar’ is about cherishing the memory of those who have passed away. Mr. Xian Xinghai also lived in Ulaanbaatar for some time before moving to Almaty, so I believe he, too, felt its winds. I hope to perform this song in Almaty to honor his memory.”
The results of the competition revealed an intense battle and very close scores. Third place went to La Danzhu, while Nurzhas Sadirbayev took second place. The winner of Episode 9 was Kyrgyz singer Nur Cholpon.
Voice Beyond Horizon now bids farewell to hospitable Almaty and heads toward the young heart of Kazakhstan, Astana. In just a week, eight singers will perform in the capital, joining the vibrant rhythm of a city of the future, where advanced technology meets natural harmony.
