In order to ensure effective regulation in the field of civil protection, mobilization training and high-quality development of a comfortable urban environment, two new departments will appear in the akimat of Almaty, El.kz reports citing press service of the akim of Almaty.

During the extraordinary XIV session, the maslikhat of the city approved the creation of the Department of Seismic Safety and Mobilization Preparation, as well as the Department for the Development of Public Spaces.

Thus, the main task of the first department is to ensure compliance with standards for seismic safety, earthquake risk management, organization of training of the population in basic skills of behavior during natural disasters, as well as coordination of emergency departments, police, city services and organizations on seismic safety issues.

"The work of this department will make it possible to conduct a high-quality seismic audit, develop a unified system for monitoring the threat of natural and man-made emergencies, as well as solve issues of state regulation in the field of civil protection, mobilization training," said Beibut Shakhanov, Chief of Staff of the Akim of Almaty, in his speech to the deputies.

According to him, the Department of Seismic Safety and Mobilization Preparation will deal with the issues of prevention and implementation of early measures, one of which is a seismic audit.

Beibut Shakhanov stressed that according to the results of the seismic audit, which will be completed by the end of this year, it is planned to take a set of measures to ensure seismic safety in the city of Almaty.

"One of the main directions of the Almaty City Development Program is to ensure a comfortable urban environment. The Department for the Development of Public Spaces will ensure the coordination of the work of departments and district akimats of the city in terms of compliance with uniform principles and approaches, the development of concepts for the modernization, construction and improvement of public spaces," Beibut Shakhanov said.

It should be noted that the creation of new departments does not imply an increase in the number of staff, since they are formed through the optimization of other departments and apparatuses of district akimats, and does not require the allocation of additional budget funds.
