Council of Europe helps Kazakhstan to implement GRECO recommendations

The Council of Europe organized a training seminar under the Rule of Law Program in Central Asia for 24 representatives of Kazakh authorities, implementing GRECO (The Council of Europe's Group of States against corruption) recommendations against corruption, El.kz cites MFA.

In general, the seminar demonstrates high content of cooperation of Kazakhstan with the Council of Europe, which is interested in promoting effective implementation of reforms outlined by the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The event was organized with the assistance of the General Consulate of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Strasbourg.

During the seminar there was a detailed exchange of views on all features of the fight against corruption. The purpose of the seminar was to modernize the regulatory framework, as well as to establish a practical dialogue with European experts.

As a result of the seminar the following results were achieved: Kazakh national authorities and institutions involved in the implementation of GRECO recommendations became aware of the proper execution of recommendations and effective accountability for them in the follow-up evaluation procedure; Kazakh authorities learned from other countries' experience in implementing recommendations through exchange of comparative practices; Kazakh authorities have become more aware of the importance of interagency cooperation and coordination in the effective implementation of recommendations and in assessing corruption risks.
