Cooperation between Kazakhstan and Malaysia in bus manufacturing sector discussed in Kuala Lumpur

The Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Malaysia Bulat Sugurbayev visited a manufacturing facility specializing in buses, trucks, and their components in Kuala Lumpur. During his visit, he explored potential avenues for collaboration with the company Tan Chong Group & Truckquip, El.kz cites MFA.

Say Teck Ming, the head of Tan Chong Group, briefed that Truckquip is a subsidiary of Tan Chong Group and ranks among the top five Malaysian companies engaged in the assembly of passenger buses and trucks. The company maintains close partnerships with global manufacturers such as Volvo, Scania, and Isuzu, operating factories across Thailand, Indonesia, Vietnam, Laos, Cambodia, and Singapore. The entrepreneur emphasized his company’s interest in expanding its market reach, identifying Kazakhstan as a priority market for their product exports.

During their discussions, the Ambassador highlighted that several Malaysian companies have already initiated successful projects in Kazakhstan and are eager to further expand their operations. Topics of conversation also included renewable energy, infrastructure development, activities within the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) governed by British law, and various industry-related matters.

The parties further explored investment opportunities in Kazakhstan, discussing both practical and legislative initiatives aimed at enhancing the inflow of foreign direct investment. These discussions align with the ongoing reforms aimed at fostering a favorable investment climate in Kazakhstan.

Say Teck Ming expressed his readiness to visit Kazakhstan on a business mission to better understand the market dynamics. He emphasized that the availability of direct flights between the two countries facilitate and expedite such business engagements.
