Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov arrived on a working trip to Yekaterinburg (Russia) to participate in the XIII International Industrial Exhibition "INNOPROM". The head of government also attended the official opening ceremony of the Consulate General of Kazakhstan, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
The Consulate General is designed to expand trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian cooperation between the regions and enterprises of two states, as well as to increase the availability of relevant consular services.
The scope of the new diplomatic facility will cover the entire territory of the Ural Federal District, namely the Sverdlovsk, Chelyabinsk, Kurgan, Tyumen regions and, in addition, the Perm Territory. There are over 90,000 Kazakhs including over 7,000 students in this consular district.
The Ural Federal District, the administrative center and the largest city of which is Yekaterinburg, is one of the dynamically developing industrial, scientific, educational, transport, logistics and financial centers of the Russian Federation.
Large scientific and industrial associations are located here. The basic types of economic activity in industrial production are mechanical engineering and metalworking industry with high scientific and technical potential.
In a solemn atmosphere, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov and Governor of the Sverdlovsk region Yevgeniy Kuyvashev opened the ceremony of the opening of Consulate General.
As the Prime Minister noted, the Consulate General in the heart of the Urals will give an additional impetus to the development of friendly relations between Kazakhstan and the Russian Federation.
He also recalled that 10 years ago in Yekaterinburg the presidents of the two countries signed the Treaty on Good Neighborliness and Alliance in the XXI Century, on the solid foundation of which the bilateral strategic partnership continues to expand.
The regions and cities of Kazakhstan have built a stable dialogue with almost all subjects of Russia. In this vein, the Ural region is important both in terms of geographical proximity and in terms of established trade and economic ties with the industrially developed Sverdlovsk, Kurgan, Tyumen, Chelyabinsk regions and the Perm Territory," Alikhan Smailov emphasized.
In conclusion, the Kazakh PM expressed confidence that the Consulate General of the Republic of Kazakhstan will open up new opportunities for the development of interstate cooperation, and wished its employees success in their work.
