During customs control, officials of the Zhetysu post of the Department of State Revenues in Almaty prevented the illegal export from the Republic of Kazakhstan of ancient coins to the USA, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
The fact of hiding coins in the packaging bag for documents was revealed by customs officers during the scanning of the parcel using an X-ray unit.
The detained coins were made in the period from the V to the XIII centuries by the minting on the territory of Central Asia and have historical value.
According to the Deputy Head of the Department Dauren Mustafin, the discovered items belong to the category of cultural and historical values, the export of which from the country, in accordance with the legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, is subject to mandatory declaration and is possible only with the permission of the authorized body.
Currently, according to the revealed fact, the seized items and materials have been transferred to experts, after the conclusion of which an appropriate procedural decision will be made against the person who attempted to export coins.
