CIS Council of Heads of Government begins in Astana

A meeting of the Council of CIS Heads of Government began in Astana in a narrow format, El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Prime Minister of Kazakhstan.

Opening the event, Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov noted that Kazakhstan positively assesses the ongoing work to deepen mutually beneficial partnership within the CIS.

"In today's difficult conditions, the Commonwealth does not stand still, new areas for cooperation are being sought," he said.

The Prime Minister also congratulated the Chairman of the Executive Committee – Executive Secretary of the CIS Sergey Lebedev on his appointment for another three-year period.

At the meeting in a narrow format, participants will discuss a wide range of issues of economic cooperation and exchange views on topical issues on the regional agenda.
