This was announced by First Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Sklyar at a briefing following a government meeting, BAQ.KZ correspondent reports.

The third nuclear power plant will be built with the participation of the Chinese side. This has already been decided. Our colleagues from the Atomic Energy Agency and the feasibility study team are currently assessing potential sites for the plant. The selected site must have access to water supply and electricity. The work will be completed in the near future. An official announcement should be made later this year,” Roman Sklyar noted.

It was previously reported that Kazakhstan’s first nuclear power plant would be built by the Russian company Rosatom, while the second - by China National Nuclear Corporation. According to the Deputy Prime Minister, the Chinese company may also build the third nuclear power plant in the country.

It is known that Russia plans to complete construction of the nuclear power plant in Kazakhstan within 12 years.
