CEC registers Adilet Party list for Qurultay elections

At a meeting held in Astana and chaired by Nurlan Abdirov, the Central Election Commission (CEC) registered the party list submitted by the public association Adilet Party for participation in the elections of deputies to the Qurultay of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Election Day is scheduled for 23 August 2026, and the registered candidates have already been issued their certificates of registration.

The meeting was attended by the party’s leadership, international observers from the OSCE Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (OSCE/ODIHR), representatives of the Prosecutor General’s Office, the Ministries of Finance, Internal Affairs, and Justice, as well as members of the media. Chairpersons and members of the territorial election commissions of the capital, the regions, and the cities of republican significance participated via videoconference.

The report was presented by CEC Deputy Chair Mukhtar Yerman. He recalled that, under the law, only one party list may be registered from each political party. In addition, each party list must include no fewer than 30 % of candidates drawn from three categories: women, youth, and persons with disabilities. The Adilet Party list comprises 186 candidates, of whom 88 belong to these categories, representing 47.3 percent of the total and therefore exceeding the statutory quota.

Mr. Yerman also stated that the Central Election Commission, in cooperation with the competent state authorities, had verified all candidates for compliance with the requirements of the Constitution of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Constitutional Law on Elections. The verification confirmed that the submitted party list fully satisfies the applicable legal requirements. He further noted that the party had paid the electoral deposit for each candidate included on the list.

Following the meeting, the members of the Central Election Commission signed the relevant records and adopted the resolution registering the party list. Subsequently, the leadership of the Adilet Partyheld a media briefing, during which they answered journalists’ questions regarding the forthcoming election campaign.
