Canadian diplomats visit Peacekeeping Training Center in Almaty

During the working visit, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Canada to the Republic of Kazakhstan Alan Hamson and Military Attaché Captain Second Rank Ronald Gauthier got acquainted with the activities of the Center, where military personnel are trained to participate in peacekeeping missions, El.kz reports with reference to the CCS.

The head of the Peacekeeping Training Center, Colonel Bauyrzhan Nigmetullin, spoke about the history of the creation and the main directions of work of the structural unit of the Ministry of Defense.

The diplomats also got acquainted with the training programs, including intensive language training courses and the protection of civilians in the framework of UN peacekeeping missions.

During the meeting, the parties discussed gender aspects in peacekeeping. Canada is one of the states actively promoting UN Security Council Resolution 1325 "Women. World. Security". Thus, in June of this year, with the support of the Embassy of Canada, together with the UN Women structure, courses on this topic were held in Astana and New York.
