Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov took part in the 23rd meeting of the Council of Heads of Government of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization member states, which was held in the capital of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan,El.kz news agency reports with reference to the press service of the Government of Kazakhstan.
At the meeting of the SCO Council of Ministers, attention was paid to the implementation of the agreements reached at the level of heads of state on the sidelines of the summit held in July this year in Astana. Measures to deepen cooperation in the trade, economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres in the new conditions were considered, including taking into account the acquisition by Belarus of the status of a full-fledged member state of the Organization. Kazakhstan's trade turnover with the SCO countries over the past year increased by 6% and amounted to $66.7 billion.
Olzhas Bektenov stressed that the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and the leaders of the SCO member states have laid a strategic foundation for the further development of multifaceted cooperation between the member states. In this regard, new growth points are needed to ensure sustainable trade dynamics in the context of a slowdown in the global economy.
