Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sayasat Nurbek held a meeting with representatives from Murdoch University (Australia). The parties discussed the enhancement of the strategic partnership!between Murdoch University and Shakarim University, as well as the feasibility of establishing an Australian branch campus hosted by the Kazakhstani institution in Semey.

Key agreements

Following the deliberations, Shakarim University and Murdoch University signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The document provides a framework for the advancement of academic and scientific cooperation, joint educational and research initiatives, faculty and student exchange programs, and the development of collaborative curricula.

Strategic objectives for the Semey branch

The parties reviewed the operational model for the branch campus, priority fields for professional training, and essential organizational and infrastructural requirements. Particular emphasis was placed on the project's significance for the Abai Region, specifically regarding human capital development, the enhancement of regional research capacity, and the integration of international best practices into the pedagogical process.

The establishment of the branch campus is regarded as a key initiative to boost Kazakhstan - Australia bilateral cooperation in higher education, facilitate the transfer of advanced scientific expertise, and expand access to international degree programs within the region.
