What issues are expected to be considered at the upcoming SCO Summit in New Delhi in July in an online format and what aspects will be drawn to the attention of Kazakhstan during the upcoming chairmanship of the Organization, said at a briefing in the CCS National Coordinator for SCO activities Murat Mukushev, El.kz reports.
As the speaker noted, in the upcoming SCO Summit, in addition to the heads of the Organization's member states, the presidents of the observer countries - Belarus, Iran, Mongolia - are expected to participate. The President of Turkmenistan will be the guest of the presiding country. The heads of the executive bodies of the UN structures, the Commission of the EAEU, the CIS, the CSTO, the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and CICA will also take part.
It is planned to consider the state and prospects for the further development of multilateral cooperation, to determine priority and practical measures to increase the activities of the SCO.
"The main document will be the Delhi Declaration, which will reflect the assessment of current international problems and further steps of the member states on multilateral cooperation," the speaker said
In accordance with the procedure, a Memorandum of Obligations of the Republic of Belarus will be signed in order to obtain the status of a SCO member state. As part of the expansion of the SCO's external contacts, the decision to sign a Memorandum between the SCO Secretariat and the United Nations Environment Programme will be approved.
"It is planned to make a decision on granting Almaty the status of the tourist and cultural capital of the SCO for 2023-2024. The Akimat of Almaty and the Ministry of Culture and Sports have prepared an action plan with the invitation of representatives of culture and art of the member states of the Organization," Mukushev emphasized.
According to the national coordinator, about 80 events are planned for the period of our country's chairmanship through the SCO.
The final stage will be the SCO Summit, which will be held in July 2024 in Astana.
