On January 23, Astana will host the Athletics Tournament of the World Athletics Indoor Tour series, El.kz reports.
World Athletics Indoor Tour is an annual series of indoor athletics competitions that have been held since 2016. The series was created on the model of the "Diamond League" in order to increase the prestige of indoor athletics competitions. This series replaces the previous IAAF Indoor Permit Meetings series.
In 2021, the tour introduced three levels of competition: gold, silver and bronze. Astana Meeting has a silver status of competitions.
About 100 athletes from foreign teams are expected to participate. They will compete in 12 sports. In each type of competition, along with domestic athletes, four foreign athletes will be represented. The prize fund of each discipline is $ 4,000.
