Astana will host the first-ever international music contest in Central Asia — Silk Way Star. According to organisers of the event, the project will become the year’s largest cultural premiere and introduce a new format for music shows in the region, El.kz reports.

Performers from 12 countries — from Azerbaijan to South Korea — will take the stage, showcasing their national musical traditions in a modern stage performance.

Filming for the show will begin on August 20, and the grand finale will be broadcast live on November 22 on the Jibek Joly / Silk Way TV channel and leading television channels in the participating countries.
