About 400 athletes from 22 countries take part in the tournament, including China, Japan, India, Mongolia, Iran, South Korea and, of course, Kazakhstan.
Hundreds of fans came to support our and foreign wrestlers, filling the stands of the Palace of Martial Arts named after Zhaksylyk Ushkempirov.
The opening ceremony was also attended by Vice-President of the United World wrestling (UWW) Akhroljon Ruziev, as well as President of UWW Asia and the Greco-Roman, Freestyle and Women's Wrestling Federation of the Republic of Kazakhstan Daulet Turlykhanov.
After the grand opening of the championship, I visited the training of our team and greeted the athletes. He also took part in the awarding of the winners of the tournament. Namely, Greco-Roman style wrestlers, who today fought for medals in five weight categories.
Wrestling, no matter in what form, has always been one of the most popular disciplines in our country, and competitions of this level further contribute to its development. In turn, our ministry and personally the Head of State create all conditions for wrestling, both for very young and professional athletes: new sections, halls are opened and various tournaments are held. One of which we have the honor to host in our capital.
I wish Kazakhstani athletes a decent performance at the Asian Championships, - Askhat Oralov writes.
