Anti-Corruption Agency initiates opening of GlobE office in CA

The Anti-Corruption Agency of Kazakhstan, together with the UNODC and the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan, has proposed to open a regional office of the Global Network of Anti-Corruption Law Enforcement Agencies (GlobE) in Central Asia,El.kz reports.

At the international meeting of experts on the creation of a regional office, the Chairman of the Agency Askhat Zhumagali emphasized the key priorities of Kazakhstan's anti-corruption policy and supporting the development of the GlobE network.

Ashita Mittal, UNODC Regional Representative for Central Asia, Rositsa Zaharieva, GlobE Network Coordinator, Deputy Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan Gabit Sadyrbekov and OSCE Representative Ivan Calabuig also welcomed the participants.

The meeting discussed issues of expanding cooperation through the resources of the GlobE Network, including search, criminal law cooperation and exchange of information to combat corruption, money laundering and asset recovery.

The participants shared international and national experience in investigating corruption crimes and discussed the threats associated with corruption and its negative impact on public and legal institutions.

Currently, representatives of 206 offices from 116 countries participate in the GlobE network.
