Traditionally, on this day goose meat is prepared for sale and down is pinched. The goose is considered the first bird tamed by people. During the holiday future brides competed among themselves in the skill of pluckers, jokes and singing, and single guys celebrated the girls they liked. Then women carried their work to the ice-hole - to wash purified carcasses with ice water.
