Almaty to host XVII Eurasia International Film Festival

From November 24 to November 30, Almaty will host the XVII Eurasia International Film Festival. One of the key events will be the screening of the restored version of Shaken Aimanov's film “Aldar Kose” (“The Beardless deceiver”),El.kz reports citing the press service of the film festival.

The program director of the festival, Diana Ashimova, noted that the screening of the film is a tribute to the cultural heritage of Kazakhstan and the talent of Aimanov. The festival is also timed to coincide with the 110th anniversary of his birth, the 90th anniversary of the Kazakhfilm film studio and the 40th anniversary of its renaming in honor of the director.

"This year is especially important for us, because the festival is held in the year of significant anniversaries. We celebrate the 90th anniversary of the Kazakhfilm National Film Studio, the 40th anniversary of naming it after Shaken Aimanov, as well as the 110th anniversary of his birth. Shaken Aimanov is a symbol of Kazakh cinema, who left a deep mark on its development and inspired many generations of filmmakers. The return of the Eurasia International Film Festival after a long pause symbolizes a new stage in the development of Kazakh cinema, " said Aidar Omarov, acting president of the Shaken Aimanov Kazakhfilm national film studio, director of the 17th ‘Eurasia’ International Film Festival.
