AI helps researchers explore link between increased biological age, health risks

An international team of researchers from Israel, China, and the United States has found that when a person's biological age is higher than their actual age, the risk of death and hospitalization rises significantly, Israel's Sheba Medical Center said, El.kz cites Xinhua.

In their study, published in Aging and Disease, the team used routine blood tests, combined with artificial intelligence (AI), to develop a simple way to detect faster aging and identify people at higher health risk years before serious illness develops.

It was found that every extra biological year beyond a person's chronological age increased the risk of death by 15 percent and hospitalization by 6 percent.

Health risks became especially noticeable when biological age exceeded actual age by more than three years. The study followed nearly 2,600 adults in Israel for more than nine years and analyzed over 6,700 medical assessments.

The researchers said that these findings could help doctors encourage earlier lifestyle changes, preventive care, and closer medical monitoring.
