312 bln tenge returned by prosecutors to state in 6 months

The Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan held an expanded meeting of the board with the participation of prosecutors of regions, as well as with the online connection of all territorial prosecutor's offices, El.kz reports.

The meeting was devoted to the results of work for the first half of 2024.

Opening the event, the Prosecutor General stressed the importance of strict adherence to the concept of "Law and Order", which the Head of State defined as the main guideline for the entire state apparatus. Prosecutors paid special attention to solving pressing problems of concern to the population.

During this period, the prosecutor's office completed inspections and analyses aimed at protecting children's rights, improving education and healthcare, as well as solving other socially significant issues. The provision of legality in the elimination of the consequences of floods and control over the construction of housing for victims was especially emphasized.

In the field of labor relations, the rights of 87 thousand employees were restored, and wage arrears in the amount of 202 million tenge were recovered to 3 thousand employees. As part of the implementation of the instructions of the Head of State on investments, prosecutors accompanied 770 investment projects worth 32 trillion tenge, providing assistance to 350 investors. Their contribution to the economy amounted to 6.4 trillion tenge.

The rights of 44 thousand businessmen have been restored, over six thousand prohibitive and restrictive measures of state bodies have been canceled. In the socio-economic sphere, according to the acts of prosecutors, the rights of 2.5 million people were restored, damage to the budget in the amount of 41 billion tenge was compensated, 167 criminal cases were initiated, 75 people were convicted.

For the return of assets, 312 billion tenge was returned to the state, of which 63 billion tenge from abroad. 513 thousand hectares of oligopoly land were seized in the amount of 50 billion tenge.

The criminal situation is under control of the prosecutor's office. Crime as a whole decreased by 8%.

This year, special prosecutors have completed investigations and sent a number of high-profile cases to court. The Constitutional Court made positive decisions on 2 applications of the Prosecutor General.

International cooperation continues to be strengthened, with treaties signed with Cyprus on the transfer of convicted persons and with Qatar on legal assistance and extradition, which are being ratified by Parliament. 13 wanted persons were extradited from other countries.

Following the discussions, the Prosecutor General outlined the main tasks and gave specific instructions for the coming period. Prosecutors will continue to work on protecting the rights of citizens and businesses, supporting investment projects, returning assets, preventing offenses, ensuring the safety of children, combating the shadow economy, drugs, fraud, combating organized crime and other relevant areas.
