22-year-old Kazakhstani sentenced to life imprisonment in UAE

A Kazakhstani citizen has been sentenced to life imprisonment in the UAE in a case involving serious crimes. The court's decision is already being appealed, and the circumstances of the case continue to be a subject of discussion,El.kz reports.

On March 18, a court in the UAE found Yernur Almakhan guilty on several serious counts and sentenced him to life in prison.

Additionally, he was ordered to pay a fine exceeding 2.5 million dirhams, which converts to over 300 million tenge.

The information was confirmed by the Kazakh Foreign Ministry and the relatives of the convicted man.

The family claims they only learned of the sentence a month later, in April. According to them, for a long time, there was no clarity regarding the case, and full information was not provided. Almakhan's mother states that she does not believe in his guilt.

An appeal has already been filed, with the hearing scheduled for April 27. Consular services continue to interact with local authorities and provide the necessary support.

Possible Connection to Robbery

Several media outlets link this case to an attack on Edward Sabirov's villa in Dubai.

The incident occurred on New Year's Eve when unidentified individuals entered the private property and attacked the owners.

According to reports, the attackers stole approximately 1.2 mln dirhams in cash. While there is no official confirmation of a link between these cases, this version is being actively discussed.
