The 13-year-old schoolgirl from Karaganda, 8th grade student at Astana Bilim-Innovation Lyceum Dariya Durmagambetova won silver at the Copernicus Olympiad in New York. More than 900 schoolchildren took part at the event, El.kz reports with reference to the regional akimat.

– The qualifying round was held in February in an online format. Two weeks later, I received an email with my result and a notification that I entered the final round of the Global round. The tasks were very difficult, mostly all on logic. Thanks to my knowledge, I managed to win a silver medal," Daria said.

Participation in such an Olympiad is a great experience for a young mathematician.

"Such Olympiads and competitions help not only to test your knowledge, but also to develop, broaden your horizons, introduce interesting people and cultures from different countries. I have not yet decided on the choice of profession, but I know that I am very attracted to the exact sciences," says Daria.

962 schoolchildren from 35 countries of the world participated in the main Olympiad. The Kazakh delegation was represented by 45 people. They have 29 medals on their account.
