Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan meets with OSCE ambassadors
Today the Commissioner for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova held a working meeting with the Permanent Representatives of state parties to the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) from USA Michael R. Carpenter, UK Neil Bush, Germany Geza Brautigam and France Christine Fages, as well as Dr. Volker Frobarth, Head of the OSCE Programme Office in Astana, El.kz cites gov.kz.
The subject of the meeting was discussion of the issues related to the activities of the Ombudsman and his representative offices in the light of the adopted Constitutional Law «On Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan», including activities at local level, consequences of January events and objectives of the Law «On Amnesty» dated November 2, 2022 in terms of probation (resocialization) measures in respect of persons subjected to amnesty, prospects of involving Ombudsman in law-making activities, interaction with the local authorities.
The participants of the meeting also exchanged views on possible areas of cooperation and exchange of successful experiences in the implementation of human rights and security standards.
