Average and maximum speeds on roads to be introduced in Kazakhstan

The main bill introduces the concepts of average and maximum vehicle speeds, El.kz reports.

These amendments are aimed at reducing the speed of drivers on the entire section of the road, where certified special control and measuring equipment and devices will be installed, as well as at reducing the number of accidents due to exceeding the speed limit.

At the same time, the "average speed" will be calculated automatically by these devices and means on straight sections of roads and outside the city, where there are no detours.

In addition, amendments to the Code of Administrative Offences introduce stricter administrative liability in the form of a fine of 40 MCI for exceeding the speed limit of vehicles by 60 km/h or more than allowed.
