Director of the Institute of Economics of the Latvian Academy of Sciences Nina Linde supports the initiatives announced by the Head of State in his address to the people of Kazakhstan. According to the expert, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev offers concrete ways to solve social problems and sets high, ambitious indicators of development results in order to ensure macroeconomic stability.

According to the experts of our Institute, the Message of the Head of State includes very ambitious political and socio-economic reforms focused on the long-term and sustainable development of the country. The reforms detailed in the Address define the New Historical Course of Development of Kazakhstan and stimulate the achievement of high results.

Special attention should be paid to the initiatives announced by President Tokayev to restructure relations in the triad "citizen - business - state", where national interests are determined, first of all, by the needs of every resident of Kazakhstan, " Nina Linde said.

According to the expert, along with the issues of health, education and improving the quality of life of citizens, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev pays great attention to supporting economic freedom.

"The priorities of the new economic course are the stimulation of business initiative, the development of competition and the fair distribution of national income. The new economic policy proposed by the leader of Kazakhstan consists in systematic and targeted actions of the government and government bodies in solving such problems as dependence on mineral resources, low labor productivity, insufficient level of innovation and unequal distribution of income. President Tokayev proposes specific ways to solve these problems and sets high, even ambitious indicators of development results in order to ensure macroeconomic stability, diversification of the economy, digitalization, development of small and medium-sized businesses, and most importantly, inclusive growth of human capital," the economist said.

Nina Linde highly appreciates the proposals for the demonopolization of the economy, the introduction of predictable and easy-to-manage tax policy and innovation.

"The leader of Kazakhstan calls for the reduction or even exemption of enterprises from paying corporate tax, thereby encouraging enterprises to invest more in technological modernization and the development of science, which in the end will contribute to ensuring high added value.
