Grand Mufti of Russia to take part in VII Congress of Leaders of World Religions

Ravil Gainutdin will take part in the VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Nur-Sultan, El.kz reports.

 Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia Yermek Kosherbayev met with Chairman of the Spiritual Administration of Muslims of the Russian Federation and the Council of Muftis of Russia Mufti Sheikh Ravil Gainutdin.

The parties discussed cooperation in the development of interreligious dialogue and expressed satisfaction with the current level of cooperation between the Spiritual Administrations of Muslims of Kazakhstan and Russia.

The importance of training in the field of theological education and spiritual and educational activities was emphasized.

Particular attention was paid to the issues of educating the younger generation on the basis of traditional spiritual, moral, cultural and historical values. Recourse to them contributes to the formation of legal consciousness and acts as an obstacle to the spread of manifestations of xenophobia, nationalism and extremism.

Ravil Gainutdin confirmed his participation in the upcoming VII Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions in Nur-Sultan in mid-September, recalling that he had never missed the forum. He praised the event held for two decades, stressing the need for a platform where representatives of different faiths are given the opportunity to exchange views and discuss global problems of our time.

According to him, now, in the post-pandemic period, the role of religious leaders comes to the fore – it is the clergy who can tell the political leadership in which direction society should develop.
