Meeting of friendship group "Belgium-Kazakhstan" held in Senate

Speaker of the Senate of the Parliament Maulen Ashimbayev held a meeting with a delegation of deputies of the Belgian Parliament headed by the Chairman of the Belgium-Kazakhstan Friendship Group Tim Vandenpoot. The parties discussed the prospects for further strengthening bilateral cooperation and inter-parliamentary cooperation,  El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

Welcoming the Belgian parliamentarians, Maulen Ashimbayev noted that Belgium is an important political and economic partner of Kazakhstan in the European Union. The Chairman of the Senate stressed the need to strengthen cooperation at the inter-parliamentary level, including within the framework of international organizations.

"We are interested in the dynamic development of inter-parliamentary relations. Friendship groups successfully operate in the Parliaments of both countries. They are an important mechanism for the development of our cooperation. Kazakh deputies are also interested in interacting with their Belgian counterparts at the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly and the Inter-Parliamentary Union," Maulen Ashimbayev said.

The Chairman of the Senate also informed his Belgian colleagues in detail about the reforms carried out in Kazakhstan at the initiative of the Head of State.  In addition, the parties also discussed a wide range of international and regional agendas.

In turn, Tim Vandenput noted the effectiveness of the ongoing political transformation in Kazakhstan, as well as the cooperation of our country with international organizations. The parliamentarian expressed Belgium's interest in the development of investment, transport and logistics projects, as well as in strengthening inter-parliamentary cooperation.
