Kazakhstan FM holds meeting with head of CIS observer mission
Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Roman Vassilenko met with Head of the Commonwealth of Independent States Observer Mission for the early parliamentary election, scheduled on March 19, First Deputy Secretary General of the CIS Leonid Anfimov, El.kz cites MFA.
The meeting was organized within the framework of the opening of the CIS Observation Mission for the early election to the Mazhilis of the Parliament and maslikhats of Kazakhstan.
Deputy Minister Vassilenko informed about key innovations of the upcoming parliamentary election and also spoke about political, social and economic reforms launched by President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.
First Deputy Secretary General Anfimov thanked the Kazakh side for the invitation to observe the election and informed about the work of the CIS Mission. The mission will be engaged in the organization prosses of short-term and long-term observers’ work in the regions, as well as the assessment of Kazakhstan’s legislation. The process of forming the Mission is currently underway. It is expected the Mission will include about 200 observers, including 10 people that will work on a long-term basis at the Mission’s headquarters in Astana.
