Kazakh Embassy hosts annual meeting of compatriots living in Belgium
More than a hundred compatriots living in Belgium, as well as their family members, joined an annual meeting at the Embassy of Kazakhstan in Brussels, El.kz cites MFA.
In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador of Kazakhstan Margulan Baimukhan warmly congratulated the audience on Oraza Ait (Eid al-Fitr) and the other spring holidays.
According to him, “today many Kazakhs successfully work in Belgium on decent positions in international organizations, larger and smaller companies.” The diplomat noted that “nowadays our students study at reputable Belgian universities,” wishing them to succeed in their pursuits and expressing hope they would be able to apply in the future their knowledge and skills in Kazakhstan.
“The unique beautiful nature, the great heritage left by our ancestors, and our multicultural fabric are the true riches of the people of Kazakhstan. Therefore, it is extremely important for all of us to cherish, preserve and maintain mutual understanding, respect, and peace in our society. Thanks to this, we all have a reason to declare with pride that we come from Kazakhstan,” he stressed.
The meeting’s cultural program featured sports competitions and was accompanied by sing-along of Kazakh national melodies, as well as various intellectual contests. Over the festive dastarkhan (meals), the compatriots could get acquainted with each other, exchanged news, and discussed plans for joint initiatives to bring closer Kazakhs in Belgium and to highlight the rich cultural heritage, economic potential, and tourist assets of our country in Europe.
