Speaking at the 77th Session of the UN General Assembly, the President of Kazakhstan proposed to create a UN Regional Center for Central Asia and Afghanistan with an office in Almaty, EL.kz reports.
"We consider it important to establish a UN Regional Center for Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia and Afghanistan in Almaty. Kazakhstan would like to see the future Afghanistan as a truly independent, neutral, united, prosperous state that maintains peaceful relations with neighboring countries.Therefore, we support the complex process of forming statehood in this country, including by providing vital humanitarian assistance," Kassym-Jomart Tokayev said.
