Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev arrived in Samarqand for a working visit to attend the Summit of the Organization of Turkic Countries, the Akorda press service reports.
Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov met the Head of State at the airport.
During the summit, it is expected to adopt a strategic action plan for the organization for the next 5 years.
The Organization of Turkic States was established at the initiative of Kazakhstan in 2009 in the city of Nakhchivan (Azerbaijan). The secretariat of the OTS is located in Istanbul (Turkey). The Organization currently includes Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey and Uzbekistan. Hungary and Turkmenistan have observer status.
