Deputy Speaker of the Kazakh Senate took part in the international meeting on European security

Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Askar Shakirov took part in an international meeting on the topic: "The role of the OSCE and its Parliamentary Assembly in the changing architecture of European security," held in Helsinki El.kz reports with reference to the press service of the Senate of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The meeting discussed topical issues on the role of the OSCE in the context of the current international agenda and obstacles to the organization in realizing its potential. Particular attention was paid to the internal reform of the OSCE.

This event was held as a follow-up to the "Call to Action – Helsinki+50" process, which is a preparatory stage for the anniversary session of the organization in 2025. The session will adopt an outcome document reflecting the vision of the future European security architecture and the role of the Parliamentary Assembly in it.

The Deputy Speaker of the Senate, a member of the Assembly's working group noted the role of the Astana Declaration adopted in 2010, which remains relevant in a turbulent geopolitical situation and makes an important contribution to the efforts of the international community to achieve comprehensive peace and security in the OSCE region.

The event was attended by members of the Extended Bureau of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, members of the Parliament of Finland, as well as representatives of the expert community.
