Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Olzhas Bektenov held a meeting on the issue of compensation to citizens affected by floods. The reports of the Minister of Finance Madi Takayev, Industry and Construction Kanat Sharlapayev, regional akims were heard, El.kz cites primeminister.kz.
To date, 3,561 affected families have been paid about 1 billion tenge in the form of lump-sum compensation for lost property in the amount of 100 monthly instalments. By the end of this week all the victims will be paid compensation.
People who lost their housing will be built a new one or purchased ready-made on the market at the choice of the victim. A similar mechanism will be applied to dacha houses, if they are the only housing of the victim.
At the meeting, akims of the regions affected by floods reported on the current results of the ongoing work on compensation for damage. Thus, in Pavlodar region together with sponsors the damage to 119 houses has been compensated and construction of 5 houses unfit for habitation has been started. In Kostanay region 27 flats in Arkalyk city have already been purchased for the victims, social assistance has been paid to 1,600 families. In Aktobe region 44 families were compensated for material damage in the amount of 94.3 million tenge, construction of 57 new houses has been started.
In total, according to the operational data of akimats today the number of affected houses is 9,627, including 9,610 individual houses and 17 apartment blocks. According to the results of technical inspection of 2,123 houses, it was established that 1,067 houses are not subject to restoration, and 1,056 houses require repair. The work on assessing the damage of the affected houses continues.
Prime Minister emphasised that these are preliminary data and, given the continuing difficult flood situation in a number of regions, the scale of damage may increase.
"The President has prioritised the provision of maximum assistance to all those affected by floods. In regions where the water has already receded, akimats need to complete the formation of lists of affected citizens, lost or damaged property, their assessment and urgently begin to compensate for the damage. The work of commissions should be prompt, bureaucracy is inadmissible. Mobilise all necessary resources,"Olzhas Bektenov stressed.
Akimats of the affected regions have been instructed to complete the work on technical inspection of flooded buildings as soon as possible with assigning responsible persons for certain areas and urgently identify new land plots to link the projects to the terrain. The Prime Minister prioritised the use of ready-made plots that are as safe as possible from possible flooding, promising for development and provided with infrastructure.
